Mental Health and Fight Club
This one’s gonna be a little different.
Since opening my gym nearly three years ago and walking away from the W2 world, I’ve seen a lot. People think the grass is greener on the other side until they get there and realize it’s not. What I’ve learned, more than anything, is how real the mental side of this journey is.
I’ve faced my own battles, and what’s helped me the most has been learning to lean into discomfort. I started getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. It’s the little things like waking up early, doing the hard stuff when you don’t want to, that push you forward. Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.
Relieving stress isn’t always about punching a bag until it breaks. Sure, that feels good, but it’s deeper than that. It’s about doing something that gives you a break from whatever’s weighing you down. They say if you stop thinking about a problem, the answer will show up and it’s true. Train, move, sweat, cheer yourself on, and do it again. Before you know it, the thing that felt so heavy either shrinks or it gives you the clarity to handle it.
Mental health is no joke. With everything going on in the world today, you don’t need extra weight dragging you down. Practicing how to deal with it doesn’t always mean sitting in a quiet room. It can be talking to someone, training, finding a community. Your brain needs work just like your muscles do. Train it. Challenge it. Give it space to grow.
Start something new. Meet people. Open doors you didn’t know were there. And along the way, become a better version of you.
